Behind the lens
Thank you for considering me as your photographer. As an introvert myself, I understand it can be hard to trust a stranger with such personal moments in our lives. It's not that we don't want the memories, it's just hard to find a way to make it comfortable.
My goal is to allow everyone the chance to have quality photos of themselves and their loved ones, even if you feel awkward in front of cameras. I view the services I offer as a project we are collaborating on, more than just a product I am selling. I want you to love your photos just as much as I love taking them.
I lean into a very candid, documentary photo style, but don't worry, you won't be without guidance if you need it. I can tell you where to look, where to hold your arms, etc. without it feeling overly posed.
A little about me as a person...
My name is Amity, I'm in my early twenties and am local to the Sunny Coast.
I am fascinated by every element of nature, and when I'm not photographing people, I'll be capturing the outdoors instead. I love thunderstorms, astronomy, and basically everything you find in the sky. It's a dream to one day see the Aurora Australis.
I'm a creative in many ways, and love to experiment with different art mediums. I always feel at my best when I'm making something, and thrive on learning new things, especially in the science & technology fields.
Alongside digital photography, I also enjoy dabbling in videography and 35mm film photography.
Q: Do you only photograph certain kinds of people/models?
A: No, this is a safe, inclusive, non-judgmental environment for all kinds of people and their love. Everyone I have photographed so far have been everyday people, not models.
Q: What should I expect when booking with you?
A: Firstly, we will chat about your ideas & vision to make sure we align, and when you're ready, plan the location and date. I'll send you a questionnaire, a few documents, and take a deposit to book.
On the day, we'll take it slowly, allowing time to settle into our surroundings and get comfortable before we begin. I will offer simple guidance to help you look natural, without being overbearing. It'll be okay to take breathers, and I'll encourage you to tell me any particular photos you want.
After I’ve carefully edited each photo, I’ll send through your gallery of digital downloads and let you know how to save them. I always appreciate feedback!
Q: How do you edit photos?
A: Photo editing is probably half of what I do. I'm continually educating myself on colour theory and editing software to further advance in post-production.
I correct brightness & colours to ensure the scene matches what I saw with my eyes on the day. Followed by subtle colour grading which focuses on enhancing what is already present, plus taking inspiration from the colours found in vintage film. My style is a cinematic, but natural look.
Q: Do you edit out blemishes?
A: I use my own discretion when it comes to blemishes. Generally, I prefer to keep the photos natural. I'm happy to remove temporary blemishes such as pimples, but I do not offer extensive retouching as part of my services, and I will never alter body shapes or natural features.
Q: Will you post my photos on social media?
A: For most sessions, I will feature highlights from your gallery on my social media pages and/or website, unless you request otherwise. There is no charge for keeping them private.
